This is an old revision of the document!

Welcome to Clean It! The wiki!

This wiki is a work in progress, please let us know if you have anything to add.

Rules for This Community

  1. Be Kind: don't start fights, don't be rude, don't attack others etc.
  2. Stay on topic: There's plenty to talk about with cleaning but lets not make posts about non-cleaning things.
  3. Don't Shame Others: There's so much to know about cleaning, lets not shame others for what they don't know. We don't know their background, we don't know what their family was like, we don't know anything about them. There's nothing wrong with someone who doesn't understand the “basics” (or what you think are basic) of cleaning and reaching out to learn. We all have to start somewhere.
  4. When taking content from Reddit: Include the link. We should always give credit to those who made the posts even if we don't like Reddit.

Posting Guidelines

When Asking a Question

Include your whole question. If you don't know how to do laundry, be specific. A post saying “teach me about laundry” is vague. Some people will assume you know how to use your washing machine. Some people might assume you know nothing. A post that has a body saying something more informative is helpful like: “I just moved out on my own, I've never done laundry a day in my life. How do I work the machine? 'This' is the machine I have where do I put detergent, which settings do I use?” This approach is more likely to get you the correct answer to your question.

Making an Information Post

Make sure the information you're posting is absolutely correct. If it's anecdotal, say that. Provide sources if possible.

Be ready to answer questions. Some users might have follow up questions, be prepared to have a little information to provide them.

And provide sources if you have them. Some people may not respond with questions or, they may read this post much later than when you posted it. Including sources allows the user to find more information on their own.
